Alison Dare, Power Mariah and Jack Hammer in WE FIGHT ROBOTS!

Alison Dare is not your typical 12-year-old girl. She's the daughter of world-renowned archaeologist Dr. Alice Dare and the masked superhero the Blue Scarab, not to mention the niece of international spy and master of disguise Johnny Dare. Action and awesomeness are in her blood.

Tundra Books are having a blog tour for their new editions of J.Torres' and J.Bone's Alison Dare Graphic Novels and we are on it! The idea is that participating blogs print out selected pictures of Alison Dare and put her in photos that highlight her thirst for adventure.

There is no better way to show a thirst for adventure than to team Alison Dare up with my daughter and son in their super hero identities: Jack Hammer and Power Mariah

This is the video my daughter and I made with the props I made for my Double Blog Dare Tour entry.

Dad and Daughter Learn Watercolor Pencils - or - Wonder Mariah and Mariah

Mariah (age 5) and I are exploring the wonders of my new watercolor pencils.  They are fun to use, and I like the results.  Mariah loves them.  I used a ink brush pen and the pencils and she used the pencils and a pink hilighter.

Jack and the Truck

"Jack and the Truck" is the first comic/picture I have posted colored with my newly purchased set of  watercolor pencils.  I like them.  Who knew something like that even existed?

Everybody but me.

Enjoy.

Mariah vs The Indoor Sneakers

This is mostly a true story, but as Mariah pointed out to me, "It wasn't raining."

I actually thought it was.

The Manual of Easter Egg Detection

This is the FINAL Easter comic!  I tried to have the office really drab and the eggs real colourful.
I'm not sure why Jack's desk is bigger than Mariah's...and where are the bottom of their chairs?

Jack and his Nanny's goat (no pun intended there), Eeore have a love-hate relationship.

Happy Easter.

Atomic Robo vs Power Mariah and Jack Hammer...A Battle Royale!

I LOVE Atomic Robo!  It is my favourite comic around right now.  There are lots of explosions, jokes and monsters for Robo to punch, and the strongest language is the "the H word".  I think it is ok for 11 and up.

I had him sort of clenching his fost, but it made him look too angry.  I am going for an annoyed/exasperated look.  I hope it comes across that way.

Disney: The Best!

Not a lot of Cars stuff at Disney yet, but Jack loved the life sized Mater and Lightning.  Lunch with the princesses at the Norwegian restaurant was pretty nice.

Still more Disney to come.

Disney: STICK!

It took a lot to convince him to leave that stick at Frontierland.

This immediately made me think of a story in Planet Sunday Comics by Monty S Kane.  I reviewed it a year or so ago and in it there was a universal story about kids and their desire to own every leaf, rock or stick they come across.  Every child is different, but most seem to have that urge.

More Disney to come.

Disney: Mariah vs It's a Small World...

Disney was a blast this March Break.  First time ever for everyone but me.  Did you know they got rid of the 20000 Leagues Under the Sea ride?  I was disappointed.  On the upside, Small World is really fun.  Mariah had us go four times.

Lots more Disney trip comics to come.

WheeHaw!! Olympic Fever!

Whee Haw. Odd thing is I finished this one right before Canada 1 flipped over during its 2nd or 3rd run. Fortunately no one was hurt.

We had Gold and Silver in the women's 2-man bobsleigh last night though!

Super Team!

Here's the stars of the blog plus the two cousins!

And robots.

Yay! Another Blog!!

"We Fight Robots"

I was looking for a place to post up the comics I create of my two kids, and I was reading the exceptional comic series, ATOMIC ROBO on the weekend when it came to me:
There are two of them = "WE"
They often are attacked by robots in the comics I make = "robots"
They sort-of fight back = "fight"

Yay!

Most of the comics here will feature my two kids, Mariah and Jack, but not all of them will feature robots...that you can see, that is. I make regular comics for the kid's lunch cans, I make t shirts for them, and I doodle them doing stuff. This blog will have it all.

There is a good chance that no one but my own kids and nephews will ever see this site...which is okay since it will take the pressure off the whole being grammatically correct thing.

Here's the cast:
